1. Y2K nostalgia
Embrace digital, futuristic aesthetics as the Y2K nostalgia brings back the cybercore, technology-inspired features in design. Bright neon colours with metallic finish, glossy surfaces and some bling. All these bold, playful, and futuristic elements mark the Y2K nostalgia trend.
2. Handmade illustrations
With the rise of AI, handmade illustrations are making a come back to make designs more relatable. With playful colours, cartoon and retro characteristics, this trend is all about emotionally connecting to people through a sense of fun and nostalgia.
3. 3D surrealism
Take a leap into the future as this trend combines reality and imagination. By empoying, abstract and organic shapes, complex materials and textures, and vibrant colours in their designs, artists can bring their audience to the future and create a thought-provoking experience.
4. Typography as the Main Element
Unique typography becomes the focal point of design as artists innovate using display fonts, serif fonts, and abstract lettering with unique layouts, sizes, colors, and styles. Typography serves as a way of effective communication with a unique and expressive touch.
5 Abstract gradients and color transitions
As in 2023, gradients remain a trend in 2024. This year, we will see more vibrant colors and an abstract and artistic twist, as mesh gradients will dominate design backgrounds and even elevate brand identities.
Rejecting traditional aesthetics and popular trends, such as minimalism, anti-design is about embracing chaos. Anti-design is defined by asymmetric shapes, mismatched elements, crowded text and images usually featured in dark bold color schemes.
7. Geometric shapes and patterns
From circles and triangles to polygons and abstract geometric compositions, geometric shapes can add simplicity to a design and, at the same time, bring a contemporary look to it.
